Across VUS campuses, November arrived with warmth, color, and a renewed spirit of gratitude. During the Teachers’ Day Appreciation Month, VUS brought to life a meaningful activity titled “To My Favorite Teacher,” carried out simultaneously at every campus.
As part of the Teachers’ Day 2025 celebration, the activity honored Vietnam’s long-standing tradition of “Tôn sư trọng đạo” – respecting and appreciating those who guide, teach, and inspire us. It created a beautiful opportunity for students to express heartfelt gratitude in their own creative ways – not only to their teachers and teaching assistants, but to anyone who has played a meaningful role in their learning journey.
A festive & heartwarming campus atmosphere
Across VUS campuses, the Teachers’ Day spirit was felt long before students exchanged their cards. Walking through the hallways, students were greeted by warm, vibrant decorations carefully prepared by each campus team.
Outside every classroom, a dedicated gratitude corner was arranged – not just as a place to pick up cards, but as a meaningful space inviting students to pause and reflect. The area came alive with:
- Five colors representing VUS’s five core values, displayed prominently
- A neatly arranged table filled with blank cards, pens, and stickers for students to express themselves
- Creative touches added by each campus team - from cheerful balloons to small decorative details - making every gratitude corner feel warm and uniquely inviting

These simple yet thoughtful decorations created a welcoming, heartfelt environment, encouraging students to stop, think of someone they appreciate, and prepare a message of gratitude.
Throughout the day, students wandered to the corner between classes, eagerly choosing their favorite card design. Some quietly picked a card that felt “just right,” while others animatedly discussed with their friends what they planned to write. The entire campus felt warm, festive, and filled with appreciation.
How the celebration unfolded across VUS campuses
Inside the classrooms, the celebration grew even more touching. At the beginning of each lesson, teaching assistants gently guided the students – showing them how to write their messages, add drawings, and express gratitude in their own sincere ways.
As students settled into their seats and began creating their cards, the bustling classroom energy softened into quiet focus. This was where the emotional depth of the activity truly unfolded.

- Children expressed their feelings in many different ways:
- Some decorated their cards with colorful drawings of hearts, stars, flowers, or even portraits of their teachers.
- Others wrote short but meaningful sentences, simple yet filled with affection.
- Many younger students wrote with adorably imperfect spelling and grammar, which only made their messages more sincere and genuine.
- These details didn’t lessen the meaning - they made every card even more special.
One young student wrote a message filled with innocence and growing confidence – a small note that carried big feelings:
“Dear Mr. Hai, you're amazing! When I was little, I was very scared of my teacher! But now, I can learn and play with other teachers! My name is LyLy. See you soon!”

Another student expressed her gratitude in a way that was equally sincere, choosing every word with the pure honesty of a child:
“My teacher, Mr. Hung. I am so lucky to have the best teacher like you, thank you Mr. Hung for teaching me and helping me. You are the best teacher in the school, I wish you happiness and luck."

When students completed their cards, their excitement was unmistakable. Some held their cards close, others shared small smiles or compared designs with friends – all eagerly waiting for the moment they could give their message to the teacher they cherished.
Then came the most touching part of the activity: the act of giving. Students approached their teachers with shy smiles and hesitant steps. Classrooms filled with soft greetings, gentle hugs, whispered “thank you, teacher,” and the kind of warmth that brings tears to the corner of one’s eyes. These simple gestures created a connection so genuine that it reminded everyone of the human heart behind every lesson.

Meaningful impact on students, teaching staff, and the community
For students, the activity nurtured emotional awareness and self-expression. Through drawings, colors, and simple words, they found a way to say what they often feel but rarely articulate: appreciation, affection, and trust.
For teachers and teaching assistants, the cards became a gentle yet powerful affirmation of their daily work. Many teaching staff shared that the moment they received student cards felt uplifting and deeply motivating.
As one Expatriate teacher from VUS Khanh Hoi Campus expressed:
“It’s very heartwarming and uplifting, and the students are very excited to give the cards to the teachers.”
A Vietnamese teacher from VUS Hoa Binh Campus shared a similarly touching feeling – one filled with warmth and connection:
“I feel truly loved and touched to receive the thank-you cards from my students on Teachers' Day at VUS. Each card has its own lovely and funny stories, colorful drawings, and cute icons, making them all unique, memorable, and meaningful. Through these heartfelt messages, I can feel the connection between my students and me, and it warms my heart to know how they feel about having me as their teacher.”
Another Vietnamese teacher from VUS Ten Lua Campus shared a touching moment that captured the spirit of the day in the most unexpected way:
“I came to the campus as usual and didn't remember it was Teachers' Day. Surprisingly, the students in my class, which had ended the week before, came to me and gave me some cards filled with lovely wishes. They gave me a hug and wished me a happy Teachers' Day. At that moment, I felt so touched and proud to be loved by my students.”

These stories revealed how deeply students treasure their teachers and how even the smallest handwritten message can become a treasured memory. They reminded teaching staff that every effort – every lesson, every explanation, and every encouraging word – can leave a lasting impression on a child’s learning journey.
Meaningful impact on students, teaching staff, and the community
More than a Teachers’ Day activity, “To My Favorite Teacher,” reflected the five values celebrated throughout Teachers’ Day 2025 at VUS – Care, Confidence, Happiness, Knowledge, and Innovation – brought to life through every handwritten message and heartfelt moment shared between students and their teachers.
The small handwritten cards may be simple, but their sentiment resonates long after the week has passed. They remind us that when gratitude becomes part of a child’s learning experience, it adds warmth and purpose to the classroom and deepens the human meaning of teaching.
