Job requirements
- Be a university/college student
- Have good command of English, especially pronunciation and grammar
- Be able to work on weekends and two weekday evenings from 5pm – 9pm
- Be willing to work with children and young teenagers
Duties
- Actively assist teachers in classroom management and class activities
- Ensure student’s safety during class time and break time

FAQs
Prior experience is not required for the Teaching Assistant position. We welcome fresh candidates! However, a background in working with children, tutoring, or volunteer activities is considered a plus.
An international English certificate is not compulsory for this position. However, candidates possessing an IELTS 6.0+ that is valid or expired by no more than 1 month at the time of contact by our recruitment team will be exempted from the Placement Test and proceed directly to the interview.
Ultimately, we look for candidates with a good command of English, especially clear pronunciation and accurate grammar, to ensure the best learning environment for our students.
While this position is ideal for undergraduate students, due to the schedule and the part-time nature of the role, VUS is open to university graduates as well. In fact, several campuses may accept graduates who can commit to our working hours. If you fit these criteria, you’re welcome to apply!
Candidates need to be 18 years old and above to be employed. If you are a high school student and interested in this position, please keep in touch with VUS and apply as soon as you are officially a university/college freshman.
Teaching Assistants are required to register the teaching availability as follows:
- Weekday Evenings: At least 2 evenings (Mon-Wed or Tue-Thu pairs) from 17:00 to 21:00.
- Weekends: Both Saturday & Sunday (either Morning or Afternoon shifts).
Kindly note that the teaching availability is required to remain unchanged for at least 3 months (starting from the first class date at the campus)
VUS would primarily arrange the workplace based on Teaching Assistants’ current residential address to ensure the most convenient travel distance for them. In addition, candidates can register their preferred campuses when applying on VUS’s website.
Recognizing that the majority of our Teaching Assistants are university students, VUS supports flexible scheduling. Teaching Assistants are allowed to update their availability after a 3-month period to align with their academic calendar, subject to campus operational requirements.
Teaching Assistants are required to maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the following dress code:
- Attire: White collared shirts/blouses paired with black or dark-colored trousers/skirts. Please note that T-shirts and jeans are strictly prohibited.
- Footwear: Formal shoes, sneakers, or sandals with back straps are accepted. Slippers/flip-flops are not allowed.
Yes, absolutely. To ensure a smooth start for new hires, our onboarding process includes a Campus Induction with the Teaching Quality Manager (TQM), followed by two Peer Observations. This helps Teaching Assistants familiarize themselves with the workflow before officially taking charge of a class.
Furthermore, VUS organizes specific workshops on Classroom Management Techniques and Customer Service Mindset to equip TAs with essential skills. VUS also offer on-going training sessions throughout Teaching Assistants’ employment to help them continuously upgrade their work experience.

Yes, VUS offers opportunities for TAs to earn additional income beyond standard teaching hours:
- Tutoring Sessions: Qualified TAs can take on tutoring sessions, which include an extra allowance on top of the standard pay rate.
- Departmental Collaboration: TAs can collaborate with other departments (such as R&D, Marketing, or Student Admissions) for events and special projects. These activities are compensated with a separate allowance.
At VUS, the Student Care team is responsible for updating parents on students’ results and progress. However, Teaching Assistants play a key role by providing written performance comments after every class to support this process.
Pay raise reviews are conducted at the end of the contract term. Decisions are based on individual performance assessments and feedback from TQM (Teaching Quality Manager), teachers and campus staff, subject to the company’s actual business situation as well as prevailing policies at that time.
VUS strictly complies with Vietnamese regulations regarding Personal Income Tax and Social Insurance to protect employees’ benefits:
Personal Income Tax (PIT): Tax deduction is only applicable if your total annual income exceeds the taxable threshold allowed by the Government.
Social Insurance (SHUI): Compulsory insurance contributions will be applied for Teaching Assistants whose monthly income and contract terms meet the eligibility criteria under the current Labor Law.
Teaching Assistants who have worked at least 6 months can request an Employment Verification Letter (template issued by VUS with the company seal). Regarding specific internship evaluation forms, Teaching Assistants can submit them to their manager at the campus for review and signature. Please note that these documents will bear the Manager’s signature only (no company seal).
Full internship support with the official company seal is only available at selected campuses only (please contact our HR team for the eligible list).
Absolutely. VUS encourages internal promotion. Experienced Teaching Assistants with excellent performance can be promoted to the Vietnamese Teacher position, provided that they meet the job requirements for the role and a suitable recruitment opening is available.
