4 FRESH INGREDIENTS TO PREPARE A TASTY CV

FROM OVERLOOKED TO OUTSTANDING: CRAFTING A CV THAT DEMANDS ATTENTION
🤔Have you ever questioned why your numerous CV submissions seem to be devoid of any response? The answer may lie in the heart of your CV itself, which lacks the essential ingredients to capture employers’ attention. It’s time to transform your approach!

🥰There are many sections you can include in your CV, but do you know which are the important elements that must be present in a CV? Let VUS help you answer these questions in part 2 of the series “The recipe for an awesome CV”!

👉Here are the 4 essential ingredients for a tasty CV:
📌Personal Information
📌Education
📌Experience
📌Achievements

📝When writing a CV, keep in mind that these components are crucial to make your CV more appealing to recruiters!

1. Personal info

If you’re unaware, prominently and clearly including your personal details in your CV can greatly assist recruiters in identifying and contacting you.

By providing your full name, contact information (phone number, email address…), and always a professional profile photo, you make it effortless for employers to reach out to you for further discussions or interviews.

Here’s another tip to make your CV stand out and leave a positive impression on employers: utilize a professional email address and thoroughly verify your contact details to guarantee accuracy and currency.

2. Education

Including details about the schools or educational programs you have attended is crucial as it showcases your level of skill and expertise in your particular field.

Is your field of study not directly related to the teaching assistant job? Don’t worry too much! You can still make a positive impression by highlighting subjects you’ve studied in English, foreign language certifications, or English language courses you’ve taken. These additional qualifications will also be highly valued by potential employers, showcasing your language proficiency!

While presenting your education section, remember to keep it concise, focusing on the most pertinent information that highlights your academic accomplishments and showcases your qualifications for the position.

3. Experience

This is perhaps one of the most challenging issues for newbies starting to write a CV with limited work experience. Therefore, focus on the skills and activities you’ve participated in to showcase your unique qualities that make you a suitable teaching assistant candidate!

For instance, if you have recently graduated from university and wish to apply for an English teaching assistant position at VUS, despite lacking prior work experience, you can include any volunteer work involving children to demonstrate your affinity for kids. Additionally, mention activities that demonstrate your effective delivery instruction, such as:
  • Being a leader in school projects
  • Participating in organizing small or large-scale events
  • Engaging in teaching within a small group

4. Achievements

When mentioning your accomplishments or awards in your CV, don’t just list job responsibilities. What’s important is to highlight the areas where you have performed well and not hesitate to acknowledge your weaknesses. Show the recruiters that you have learned from your experiences and how you have improved your shortcomings after those instances of failure!

Ensure that you utilize some collocations to describe your accomplishments, such as “achieved results”, “acquired experience”, “dealt with problems,” “developed the ability to” and so on. This will make your achievements sound more dynamic and impactful, leaving a lasting impression on the employers.
